Ways to help those in need
Support from Family, Friends, & Employers
Family members may help their loved ones find a sense of balance and normalcy by engaging and improving their ability to recognize tasks with organization skills, staying on focus, and managing their disorder. Consider listening more often, as opposed to lecturing/advising to facilitate a welcoming environment.
Friends may serve as a trusted confidant or as a go-to-person in times of need. Sometimes our loved ones are taken advantage of or exploited during episodes. We can protect our loved one from harm or danger by taking action.
Employers may demonstrate support with flexible workplace accommodations: flexible scheduling, time off, and by designing effective support systems that foster employee retention and advancement.
